Luxury Wedding Photography at The Boca Raton

Katie and Jack’s wedding was a beautiful example of what makes luxury wedding photography at The Boca Raton so special. With its elegant surroundings, incredible oceanfront setting, and variety of locations for wedding portraits, The Boca Raton offers endless opportunities for creating photographs that feel both sophisticated and natural.

One of my favorite parts of their wedding day was taking Katie and Jack outside for portraits along the beach. Rather than turning their portrait session into a long photo shoot, I wanted to give them time to enjoy the moment together while incorporating the ocean, coastline, and unmistakable South Florida atmosphere into their photographs.

Getting Ready at The Boca Raton

Katie’s wedding day began with the kind of moments I always enjoy photographing—the excitement and emotion that happen before the formal events of the day even begin. Surrounded by her family and bridesmaids, Katie got ready while I photographed a combination of candid moments, bridal details, and portraits.

One of the advantages of beginning wedding photography early is having enough time to capture these moments without rushing. From Katie’s makeup and jewelry to her mother and grandmother helping her get ready, these photographs become an important part of the complete wedding story.

The beautiful natural light at The Boca Raton also gave me the opportunity to create the close-up portrait of Katie shown here. Her eyes immediately caught my attention, and I wanted a simple portrait that focused entirely on her expression.

A Little Wedding-Day Fuel

Wedding days can be long, especially for the bride and bridal party, who may begin hair and makeup hours before the ceremony. Having plenty of food available while everyone is getting ready is a small detail that can make a big difference.

Katie’s room at The Boca Raton was stocked with sandwiches, charcuterie, fruit, and chocolate-covered strawberries for everyone to enjoy throughout the morning. As a wedding photographer, I’m always looking beyond the obvious moments and photographing details like these because they help tell the complete story of the day.

Personalized Details for a Boca Raton Wedding Weekend

The details in Katie’s bridal suite immediately gave me a sense of the thought that went into planning this wedding. Their elegant invitation introduced the style of the celebration, while personalized gifts and welcome items added a relaxed South Florida touch to the weekend.

Many of Katie’s bridesmaids had traveled from out of state, so she surprised them with custom beach bags—an especially fitting gift for a wedding at The Boca Raton. Along with the other personalized items waiting in the room, these details made their guests feel welcomed while tying everything back to the beachfront setting.

As a wedding photographer, I always make time to photograph details like these before the day becomes busy. Invitations, gifts and other personal touches may seem small compared with the ceremony or reception, but they’re often items the couple spent considerable time selecting. Photographing them helps preserve another part of the story that might otherwise be forgotten.

Candid Moments with the Bridesmaids

Some of my favorite wedding photographs happen before the ceremony, when everyone is simply enjoying being together. Katie’s bridal suite was filled with laughter as she and her bridesmaids relaxed, shared a champagne toast, and enjoyed some time together before getting dressed.

I like to photograph this part of the day with a mix of lightly directed portraits and candid wedding photography. I’ll step in when a little direction will create a stronger photograph, but I also know when to let things unfold naturally. Those unscripted interactions often become some of the most meaningful images from the wedding.

Having a spacious bridal suite at The Boca Raton gave everyone room to enjoy the morning while also providing plenty of opportunities for photographs. Starting photography early meant there was no need to rush these moments before moving into the next part of the wedding day.

Elegant Bridal Portraits at The Boca Raton

Once Katie was completely dressed, I set aside a few minutes to create her bridal portraits. The beautiful window light in her suite at The Boca Raton was perfect for highlighting the clean lines of her gown, the softness of her veil, and her white lily bouquet.

For the first portrait, I photographed Katie facing the light for a bright, flattering image that keeps the attention on her expression. I then changed the angle to show the back of her gown and the full length of her veil. Small changes in position and lighting can create very different photographs without taking the bride away from her wedding day for an extended period of time.

I always like to create a few polished bridal portraits in addition to the candid photographs from the getting-ready portion of the day. These are often some of the simplest photographs I make, but they can also become some of the most timeless images in the finished wedding collection.

“Daddy, Don’t Cry”

A father seeing his daughter as a bride for the first time is one of those wedding-day moments that can’t be recreated. Katie’s first look with her dad was filled with exactly what I hope to capture—anticipation, emotion, laughter, and a big hug once he finally saw her.

For their first look, we stepped outside at The Boca Raton and used the ocean as the backdrop. The bright South Florida daylight and blue Atlantic created a completely different feeling from the softer bridal portraits we had just photographed inside.

I gave Katie and her father enough direction to put them in the right place and then let the moment unfold. Once her dad turned around, my job was simply to photograph their reactions without interrupting them.

These are the moments that make storytelling such an important part of wedding photography. The portraits and details matter, but so do the expressions and interactions that happen only once. Years from now, photographs like these can bring a couple and their family right back to how the wedding day actually felt.

Creative Wedding Ring Photography

Wedding rings are among the smallest details I photograph on a wedding day, but they also carry some of the greatest significance. Rather than simply documenting the rings, I like to look for interesting ways to photograph them that connect the image to the couple and their wedding.

For Katie and Jack, I incorporated details from their celebration at The Boca Raton Beach Club into the ring photographs. The Beach Club artwork immediately establishes a sense of place, while the personalized wedding detail featuring their initials and wedding date makes the images uniquely theirs.

Photographing small details like rings requires a different approach from photographing people. Lighting, reflections, background selection and depth of field all become important when working this close. Taking a few extra minutes to create something distinctive gives the couple photographs that are both a record of their rings and part of the visual story of their wedding day.

Getting Ready with the Groom

While Katie was finishing her preparations, it was also time to photograph Jack before the ceremony. Groom portraits don’t need to be complicated. A strong individual portrait combined with a few close-up details can tell this part of the wedding-day story naturally.

Jack wore a classic navy suit accented with a blue bow tie and a boutonniere that coordinated beautifully with the soft blue and white floral palette of the wedding. I also photographed the small in-between moments, like Jack making a final adjustment to his bow tie before heading to the ceremony.

Photographing both sides of the wedding preparations is important to me. While much of the morning naturally centers around the bride, the groom’s portraits and details are equally important when creating a complete visual story of the wedding day.

Taking the Boat to the First Look

Katie and Jack had made special plans for their first look. While Katie spent the morning getting ready at The Boca Raton Beach Club, Jack prepared across the Intracoastal Waterway at the main resort.

When it was time for the first look, Jack headed to the dock to take the boat across to the Beach Club, where Katie would be waiting for him. Before he boarded, I had a few minutes to photograph him at the waterfront with The Boca Raton in the background.

Using the resort’s different locations gave us an opportunity to incorporate more of the property into their wedding photography. The boat ride across the water also added a little anticipation to the story—Jack knew that when he reached the other side, he would finally get to see Katie.

Waiting for Jack at the Beach Club

While Jack made his way across the Intracoastal Waterway, Katie was waiting for him at the dock at The Boca Raton Beach Club. It was a perfect opportunity to photograph both the back of her gown and veil and the anticipation on her face as she watched for his boat to arrive.

I love moments like this because they’re part portrait and part documentary wedding photography. Katie didn’t need much direction—she was genuinely waiting for Jack. My job was to choose the angles that showed her beautifully while also incorporating the waterfront setting and telling the story of what was about to happen.

The movement of her veil, the white orchid bouquet, and the water surrounding the dock all helped create a distinctly South Florida feel. Within a few minutes, Jack would arrive and Katie and Jack would see each other for the first time on their wedding day.

A First Look Arrival by Boat

I’m always watching for expressions during a first look. Sometimes the reaction is emotional and dramatic; other times, the story is found in the experience itself. For Katie and Jack, their first look began with one of the more unique wedding-day arrivals I’ve photographed.

Jack traveled from the main resort across the Intracoastal Waterway aboard The Boca Raton’s distinctive Beach Club boat, while Katie waited for him at the dock. Once he arrived, we photographed the two of them together before moving on to their portraits around the Beach Club.

The boat, the water, and the setting made this first look uniquely theirs. It also gave us a series of photographs that captured more than just the moment they saw each other—they documented the experience of getting there.

After their first look, I took Katie and Jack down to the beach for some time together and a series of wedding portraits along the Atlantic Ocean. The beachfront location gave us an entirely different setting while staying right on the Beach Club property.

For this photograph, the ocean breeze did exactly what I hoped it would do. As Jack dipped Katie for a kiss, the wind caught her veil and gown, creating beautiful movement against the waves behind them.

When photographing a wedding on the water, I like to use the environment rather than simply treating it as a background. The changing light, wind, water, and movement can all become part of the photograph and create images that have a real sense of place.

Wedding Portraits at The Boca Raton’s Main Resort

After finishing our beach portraits, we took the boat back across the Intracoastal Waterway to continue photography at The Boca Raton’s main resort. This gave Katie and Jack an entirely different setting for their portraits and allowed us to incorporate more of the resort’s distinctive architecture into their wedding photographs.

The move was also a practical decision. The ocean breeze at the Beach Club was wonderful for creating movement in Katie’s veil during the couple’s beach portraits, but the more protected areas of the main resort were better suited for the family and wedding-party photographs we still needed to create.

Working together with the wedding planners, we adjusted our locations to take advantage of the conditions rather than fight them. That’s especially important at a waterfront wedding, where wind and weather can change throughout the day.

Before beginning the family photographs, I spent a little more time with Katie and Jack around the property. The covered walkway gave us beautiful symmetry and depth, while Katie’s veil created a softer, more intimate frame around the two of them.

Endless Locations for Wedding Photography at The Boca Raton

One of the things I love about photographing weddings at The Boca Raton is the incredible variety of locations available throughout the property. Within a relatively short period of time, it’s possible to create wedding photographs that look and feel completely different from one another.

For Katie and Jack, we moved from the natural waterfront setting of the Beach Club to the architecture and elegant interiors of the main resort. The portrait on the left was photographed inside the hotel bar, where the warm interior lighting created a polished, sophisticated look. For the photograph on the right, we stepped outside to the iconic fountain at the front of the hotel, one of the resort’s most recognizable locations for wedding portraits.

Having so many photographic options is particularly valuable on a wedding day because the best location can change depending on the time of day, weather, wind, lighting, and the couple’s schedule. Rather than relying on one or two predetermined spots, I can choose locations that work best for the conditions while still giving the couple a diverse collection of photographs.
